The Pungent Stench Extreme Deformity LP brings one of the band's earliest and most primitive death metal recordings back to vinyl in a 2025 reissue. Originally recorded in a single day on August 25, 1988 at Birdsong Studio in Worcester, England, the material captures Pungent Stench in a raw, spontaneous and uncompromising early form. At the heart of the release is the original Extreme Deformity EP, featuring four tracks: “Extreme Deformity,” “Mucous Secretion,” “Molecular Disembowelment” and the long-lost “Rip You Without Care.” The latter had been missing for more than 37 years, making its inclusion one of the major highlights of this archival release.

The music represents death metal in its most primitive and filthy form. Heavy riffs, raw production, aggressive vocals and a grim atmosphere define these early recordings, long before extreme metal became a polished and highly produced genre.

The release goes beyond the original EP with additional archival material. “Embalmed in Sulphuric Acid” was recorded in Vienna in the Pungent Stench rehearsal room as part of Intestinal Infestation, a project involving members of Pungent Stench, Napalm Death and Extreme Noise Terror.

The second side also features six live recordings from Arena, Vienna, in 1988, including “In the Vault,” “Mucous Secretion,” “Festered Offals,” “Hypnos,” “Pulsating Protoplasma” and “Dead Body Love.” These recordings preserve the band's early live intensity and provide a further glimpse into the raw underground death metal scene of the era.

The 2025 reissue restores this important chapter of Pungent Stench's history for a new generation while giving longtime fans the opportunity to revisit some of the band's earliest material in an expanded format.
