Loathe - A Stranger To You (Turquoise/White Marble Vinyl) 2LP
After six years Loathe return with A Stranger To You, their fourth full-length and another bold evolution of the British band's sound. Following The Cold Sun, I Let It In And It Took Everything and The Things They Believe, the new album sees Loathe continue to blur the boundaries between modern metalcore, shoegaze, alternative metal, electronic music and experimental sound design.
At the heart of the album is “Revenant,” an explosive track that demonstrates just how devastating Loathe can sound. Short, intense and packed with enormous sonic density, the song arrives with overwhelming force before disappearing almost as quickly as it began. It perfectly represents the band's ability to combine extreme heaviness with atmosphere, dynamics and unconventional songwriting.
A Stranger To You was produced, engineered and mixed by Loathe's own Erik Bickerstaffe, with additional mixing by Ed Al-Shakarchi. The production gives the album a massive and immersive character, allowing crushing guitars and aggressive vocals to coexist with intricate textures, electronic details and expansive atmospheric passages.
The album also expands Loathe's creative world through an impressive selection of guest appearances. Jordan Rakei, Static Dress, Mansur Brown, NOWHERE2RUN and bucki sugar all contribute to the record, adding further dimensions to an album that refuses to settle into a single genre or formula.
The result is a record that feels both aggressive and atmospheric, combining the physical impact of heavy music with the emotional depth and sonic experimentation that have made Loathe one of the UK's most distinctive modern heavy bands.
Presented here as a Turquoise/White Marble Vinyl 2LP, A Stranger To You is an essential physical edition for fans of progressive metalcore, shoegaze, alternative metal and experimental heavy music.
